Our Team

Susan Warren is a therapeutic recreation specialist. She graduated from Longwood University and received a Bachelor of Science degree in therapeutic recreation. She has over 20 years of experience working with children and adults with disabilities. Because of her husband’s air force career, Susan was forced to change jobs every three years. Fortunately, this has proven to be very beneficial because it has given her the opportunity to work with many different individuals with many different disabilities. Currently, Susan is the director of Tackfully Teamed Riding Academy, Inc. She has been at the center for seven years. She began her love for horses at birth and began riding when she four. Her background is mostly hunt seat. She has taken lessons for years in different disciplines. But she still enjoys hunt seat the best. Susan began teaching beginner and intermediate lessons when she and her husband bought their current farm. During this time, she trained under Stormie Hazen Shelton, the director of Astride with Pride therapeutic riding center in Bedford VA. She also started taking lessons again to further her riding skills and horse knowledge. She became a registered therapeutic riding instructor through the North American Riding for the Handicapped Association (NARHA) and keeps this certification current by attending NARHA conferences and other equine or disability related conferences and educational opportunities. Currently Susan serves on the board of directors for the Therapeutic Riding Association of Virginia.
